Location
The night before i took this photo i decided to get up early to get ou t and take some landscapes from somewhere near my home. I had no idea where i was going when I got in my truck. While driving i decided to head to a local lake. Thank goodness I did because the stars aligned for me as the fog and light were quite interesting as i pulled in to my first location and got this image!Time
I awoke before sunrise and drove to my local lake and I believe i got there at the perfect time as the sun was rising and there was fog on the water.Lighting
Anyone who shoots in the fog knows how tricky the lighting can be. I was amazed at how i got to the location at the perfect time. The sun was just coming up and there was a slight break in the fog as i captured this image. A few minutes later the fog completely enveloped the lake and had i gotten there any later i would have missed this shot!Equipment
This was shot with my Nikon D7500 and a Nikkor 18-55mm lensInspiration
I was feeling restless as I had not gotten out to shoot any pictures in a few weeks so i decided, with no plan of where i was going, just to get up the next day and drive. Glad I did because this is one of my all time favorite images.Editing
yes, as this was shot in RAW i adjusted the color to pop, increased the whiteness of the fog and removed a small object on the shore line that was a little bit of a distraction. In my camera bag
I carry just about everything I own in my Lowepro sling.....all my lenses except my one macro, all my memory cards, extra battery, etc.Feedback
Foggy images can be intimidating, my advice is just to get out the and shoot! experiment and don't be afraid if you don't get quite the image you had of the scene in your head. I bet what you did capture will just be lovely!!
