Location
This image was captured in the Endless Mountains of Pennsylvania.Time
The shoot took place during the midday hours.Lighting
It was an average sunny day.Equipment
This image was captured with my Nikon D750, with a Nikon 24-85mm zoom, off a tripod.Inspiration
A good friend, who is an excellent photographer, had been scouting waterfalls in northeast Pennsylvania for a fun project that we had been talking about for awhile. We kept an eye on rainfall so the falls would have a decent flow and then waited for a sunny day. We visited five falls that day. This was one of two that met my expectations.Editing
The original had a bit of bright sky, just enough to pull the eye away from the subject. A simple clone to remove the sky improved the composition beautifully. In my camera bag
Most often when I hit the road, I carry two cameras and four lenses, with two tripods (one for low shooting)...and the usual accessories.Feedback
Do your homework before a shoot---scout the area or subject, especially in consideration for lighting (time of day). After scouting, think about and take notes on the ways to approach the subject---perspective and composition, etc...and in the case of water: time exposures/shutter speed. Many times I shoot alone, but having a good photographer share the experience can be fun, as well as offer exchanges of thoughts and considerations. Think: two brains are better than one.
