The warthog (Phacochoerus africanus ) is a common boar from the pig family.
The warthog is a diurnal animal . It lives on the savannahs of Africa south of the Sahara. It prefers floodplains and lightly wooded landscapes. To escape the heat, drought, and predators, the warthog takes shelter in burrows, mainly abandoned and enlarged aardvark burrows, but self-dug and natural burrows are also used, as well as porcupine burrows and abandoned termite mounds . Entire families sleep in these caves.
