The warthog lives south of the Sahara in Africa. It has, as the name suggests, three pairs of nodules consisting of somewhat thicker skin. Except for the eyelashes, head hair and tail hair, no fur. He also stands very high on his legs and has a small neck. Also very striking are, of course, tusks that often grow larger than 30 cm, which serve to plow roots out of the ground. The tusks are also the canine teeth of the animal. The warthog is mainly active during the day and then searches for fruits and plants, but also tubers and roots. They crawl on their knees as they search for their food. They do not grow longer than 1.5 meters and are between 65 and 85 cm high. At night and during the heat of the day, it retreats into burrows where it crawls backwards. He does this so that his head sticks out at the front and so can more easily attack enemies. These 50 to 150 kilogram animals mate during the rainy season and are then pregnant for about 170 days. After that, about 2 to 4 animals are born that are nursed for 4 months. They don't get older than 18 years.
