This is the Kokanee Salmon that spawn up Taylor Creek from Lake Tahoe. Each October , once a rush of cold water from Taylor Creek flows into Lake Tahoe carrying the scent, many Kokanee Salmon (between ages of 2 and 4) return up Taylor Creek to spawn. As part of the spawning process, the salmon turn a bright red in order to attract a mate. Many dangers await the salmon going up Taylor Creek, from birds to bears!
