I was in Zanzibar in the ancient town of Stone Town. It's called that for a reason - buildings and the narrow little alleys that comprise their streets are stone. The 'streets' are a mystifying maze.
I even stayed in one of their ancient old 'hotels' ('hotel' being the most charitable of words for where I was). I'm afraid I was a shameless visitor with my 35mm film camera, but I was fascinated by the Muslim women scurrying through the streets barefoot on those rock roads. This one is carrying sticks of wood for her cooking brazier.

At first I thought it was a Kalashnikov! I much prefer your explanation. Ancient destination and world heritage site...any red monkeys running around? Great image ( nat geo) photo journalism quality...like the detail of the barbed wire above the wall!!:((

I just love this one! the contrast is just perfect. Leading lines directing my eye to the lady and the hint of red is just perfect. Nice job!
