Location
Seljalandsfoss Iceland in the spring of 2012Time
I took a road trip early in the morning and stopped at this waterfall ,it was around 10 amLighting
it was a cloudy day and i was just hoping it would not start to rain on meEquipment
I used my older Canon 600d and my older Sigma 24-70mm lens and a very old and not so good tripod this is shot before i upgraded all my gear so i guess you could say gear isn't everything .Inspiration
This is a very popular waterfall in Iceland and since i was taking a trip home i really wanted to use that trip and go and shoot our beautiful landscape ,i was living in Norway at that time so i was missing all the epic landscape we have in Iceland and this waterfall was a part of my to shot list .Editing
I only saw this image in BW, i did try to process it in colour but this was more my vision on it ,i just fell in love with all the darkness around the flowing water and the strong contrast so i did a series of waterfall images using Nik´s silver efex pro 2 .In my camera bag
I use Canon markii and the Canon 16-35mm is kinda stuck on my camera at the moment ,Canon 70-200mm is also a lens i love to use Sigma 24-70mm Sigma 50mm Lee filters ,neutral density grad 0.3 - 0.6 - 0.9 ,big stopper ,little stopper and a circa, polariser Manfrotto 055xpro3 tripod and ballhead and other smaller things like extra battery and memory cardFeedback
I think its important to vision what you want the image to look like in the end and go from there ,i also think its important to shoot what you love to shoot, if you are going for a smooth flow in the water filters are helpful and if you are shooting in bright daylight they are a must then you can use longer shutter speed and still get a nice flow and don't forget to have fun and enjoy the beauty in the nature .
