We were just here in May and left to head to Sequoia one day before a freak snowstorm hit. We might have seen this same thing had we been here a day later! As it was, we got to see more in Sequoia...and boy was it COLD....!
Beautiful beautiful shot and edit! Congrats!

Beautiful composition! I've got some shots from the same spot but wasn't as fortunate as you with the mist and clouds. The reflection is perfect!

This heat in Texas is making me wish I was wherever this picture was taken 😍😍

Location
this image was taken in yosemite valley, during a late winter stormTime
around 7.30 am,it was freezing and raining/snowing,but definitely worth it:)Lighting
nature did the lighting for me,but is was tricky as the light was constantly changing and i had to adjust my camera settings accordinglyEquipment
that picture was shot in february 2011,back then i was shooting olympus,E-3 and the venerable 12-60 zuikoInspiration
i was so immersed in that beautiful scene that morning,i was amazed at what nature was pulling out in front of me i was completely alone on a little swinging wooden bridge over the merced river, and i kept shooting until that perfect scene appeared. that ray of light hitting the left side of the mountain lasted a few seconds, and i am glad i was there to record itEditing
my work flow consist of some adjustments in adobe ACR,and then i move to photoshop, with the help of some of the NIK collection plug-ins the sensors in today's camera are so efficient regarding to dynamic range and image quality overall that little is needed in post if you get it right in the field so i spend more time shooting and stick to a pretty simple but efficient post workflowIn my camera bag
nowadays i shoot with sony,i have an A7Rll,with various sony and Zeiss lenses,i also have a little sony a6000 as a back up camera, and that "backup" camera has given me fantastic results and is often the only camera i take on a specific shoot.i have it paired with a sigma 19mm f2.8 and sony 70-200 f4Feedback
just get out there,be patient, and most importantly have fun i enjoy the outdoors regardless if i come back with that great shot or not but i keep coming back every year to those same spots i love so much, and yosemite valley is one of them there is always an image to capture there, day and/or night
