Location
This is a blue bar panther chameleon and it belongs to my friend, this photo was taken at his house in kitchen in a make-shift studio.Time
It was taken in the morning after we had breakfast.Lighting
The lights we used were studio lights made by Elinchrom, we had two set up with softboxes, one was 500w the other 250w, we had cut out of cardboard in a forest pattern which we inserted into the softbox so the catchlights in the eye looked like the sunlight coming through the trees. The black background was dressmakers velvet which soaks up the light really well.Equipment
Canon 5d Mk3, Canon 100mm f2.8 IS L Lights by Elinchrom, 1 x BRX 500w and 1 x BRX 250w, two Rotalux 100cm x 100cm softboxes, light standsInspiration
I have alway liked nature and colours in nature so when my friend asked me if I would like to take some photos of his chameleon I jumped at the chance.Editing
I always shot in RAW and process my images in Aperture and besides a bit of sharpening and contrast and vibrancy boost that was all I did to this image. In my camera bag
In my wildlife bag I will have a Canon 1DX and a Canon 5D mk3 with a 300 f2.8 IS L, 70-200 f2.8 IS L mk2, 2x and a 1.4x extenders. In my wedding and portrait bag I will normally have a Canon 85mm f1.2L, Canon 35 f1.4L, Canon 24-70 f2.8, Canon 100mm f2.8 IS L Macro.Feedback
Spending time and knowing your subject whatever it might be is the best advice I can give.
