Hill Country of Central Texas, in Kempner.

High speed, high ISO shot using bright sunlight.

Equipment

Canon 1D Mark III, 100-400mm lens, Manfrotto carbon fiber tripod with 322RC2 joystick head.

Inspiration

After observing the aggressive behavior of the Cardinal male, I set out to document it.

Editing

Standard processing and selective sharpening/noise reduction.

In my camera bag

Canon 300mm f/2.8 prime, 100-400mm zoom, 1.4 & 2x extenders, 24-105mm, Sigma 150mm f/2.8, circular polarizer, extra batteries.

Feedback

Patience & a sustained effort. I used manual focus to the back edge of the copper plated birdbath, and 10 fps bursts for this.
