This is my Chihuahua Valentino, I was playing about in my living room at home with my camera taken pictures of still life but my dog kept wanting my attention. So I turned the camera on him.Time
It was early afternoon, the sun was out and was coming in my window.Lighting
All natural light was used with a reflector to help lighten the darker side. The hardest thing was to try keep the light from shining on the glasses.Equipment
The most important equipment used for this shot was hotdog sausages. Valentino will do anything for a piece of sausage. He was wearing the glasses, they were held together with a rubber band at the back. He was also sitting on a small child’s basket cane chair. I used a Canon 5d iii, and was hand held.Inspiration
I love taking pictures of animals and wildlife, it really can be a challenge. Getting an animal to do what you want is never easy. The glasses were sitting on the table as they had been used for a Harry Potter day at my kids school, and so I just had to try them on the dog to see if he would wear them, as you do... It took about 10 minutes and a lot of hotdog sausages but he nailed it.Editing
This photo is straight out of the camera. In my camera bag
I always have my two cameras with me 5D iii and iv, and depending on what shoot I have planned that day, usually for wildlife I have my Prime Canon 400mm with 1.4 extender and my canon 500mm with 1.2 extender. Tripod with gimbal head. But the most important thing in my bag is my fingerless gloves and a bar of chocolate. Well wildlife photography is a waiting game!Feedback
Capturing an image like this is all about patience, you have to have tons of it. Take your time, animals and pets can’t be rushed. If you don’t succeed in the first 20 mins, leave it for another day.
