An amazing photo! Great job taking the time on the processing, well worth the effort.

The composition, the lighting, all work together to create an out of this world effect.

Beautiful lighting and tonal range, not to mention more than one story within its frame . . .

This image has everything - light, dark, contrast, color, composition. Great!

i love this shot, where was it taken?.
The figures make it.
maybe just a warm tone black and white would be good.

Difficult! Well, it was for me - to the right of the image is a path that leads up from beach level to the cliff-top, and has a row of streetlamps along it. I tried to include these initially, but the image had too much visual tension and I decided to crop to the cliffs and mist. Light was naturally diffused, which was quite atmospheric - and difficult to process!Equipment
My Canon 5DIII and stock 24-105 lens, which I love. Hand held - wish I'd taken the tripod!Inspiration
The atmosphere of the scene, which had a weird quiteness.Editing
Oh yes! I played with this so many times. Posted it on one of my favourite forums for critique (PhotoSocial), listened to everything people had to say, especially Robert, who is a wizard. Then went back again and again. Cropped, as I mentioned above, to remove distracting elements that I first thought were contributing positively, simplified colour, enhanced the silhouettes - it goes on and on! All done in Lightroom. In my camera bag
Being of Great Age, as little as possible - on this occasion just camera, 24-105 and 100-400 lenses, filters and cleaning kit. Should have taken the tripod, without doubt.Feedback
I would have liked to try an ND filter with this shot but wanted the figures to be reasonably sharp and, with light so low, I don't think this would have worked. So, try some bracketed shots to ensure you capture the detail required - and be careful with the highlights, low winter sunshine can cause burn-out!
