Location
This photo was taken when I lived in Waiblingen Germany a few years back. I was over there as a contractor to the US Army. While I love my day job, photography has always been my passion.Time
I believe it was towards sunset time, but honestly do not recall.Lighting
I used a SB600 flash, with a flash deflector to soften the light.Equipment
Nikon D800, 105mm Nikor lens, SB600 flash, hand held shot.Inspiration
My focus was on capturing something unique. I had just purchased my 105mm Nikor macro lens a month or so prior, so I was running around like a mad man, taking shots of anything I though might be interesting to see through a macro perspective.Editing
For post processing I ran the image through the Nik ColorEfex Pro tool and adjusted settings to get the result you see here.In my camera bag
I've changed up my gear a bit. Now I have a Nikon Z6. I still have my 105mm macro lens, but that's the only lens I kept that has an F-mount. I have a 24-70 F2.8 Z mount lens and hopefully soon a 70-200 F2.8. I keep my two current lenses in the bag, along with a flash and flash bender (deflector), extra camera card, and of course my hand Monfroto tripod on the outside...Feedback
Just think outside the box. Look for different unique angles... for this shot, I actually flicked away a layer of the dandelion seeds to reveal the core. So manipulating the subject can be very handy as well to capture something fun and unique.
