beautifully orchestrated! Being a fan of the hummingbird, I really appreciate how much patience it takes to capture an image like this. Very well done!!!

Location
This image actually consists of two separate photographs, that I decided to make into a composite. Both images were shot in Anderson, California, USA in my garden.Time
A beautiful warm April day led me outdoors with my camera around mid-morning.Lighting
The day was bright and sunny; these images were shot in full sun, very near to each other as far as time, so the lighting was pretty much the same on both.Equipment
I shot these images with a Canon Powershot G10, a tripod, no flash, standard built in lens. I did however use the Neutral Density Filter to help handle the bright sun.Inspiration
My love of gardening comes in second to my love of photography, therefore, it was a no brainer to combine these two images into this composite. The warm April day, a garden in full bloom, bees and hummingbirds plentiful - the fact that the orange rose seemed to pair with this lovely Rufous Hummingbird's golden earth tones was a real inspiration and I shot many photos of the hummingbird before I was happy with the one in this final presentation.Editing
I did combine the two images in PhotoImpace 11, which was the software I was using back in 2011 when this work was done. I also colored the background black to really make the subject(s) pop.In my camera bag
As the years have passed, I have had several different cameras, always the Canon brand. Today I carry a sling bag with two Canon Mirrorless cameras and three lenses. An older EOS M3, 24 Mega Pixels, and my latest the Canon EOS M6 Mark II, 32 Mega Pixels. I have three lenses: a Canon Zoom 55 X 200, a Canon Wide Angle, 15 X 45 and also the standard 18 X 55. I always have the tripod handy though with the built in stabilizer of the EOS M3 and the lens, I don't always need the tripod. I have three main filters, the Polarizing filter, the UV filter and Neutral Density filter. Several back-up batteries, also are always on hand and of course, the lens hoods.Feedback
Because of my love of photography, I do tend to shoot in most any light, though I do prefer early morning and evening, as well as a cloudy day. I always check my bag prior to the outing to make sure everything is at hand and batteries are always fully charged. When I find a subject I will shoot several different images from all angles (thankfully Digital Cameras allow for this). Shoot often and keep your inspiration fresh by viewing other photographer's work. If I come across something I really like I will try different settings and then select the one that I want to use for the presentation. Our cameras are our tools; I keep them clean and ready to shoot on a moment's notice.
