Thank you for joining the rust challenge. I wanted to start by saying I really like this piece. I like the criss cross effect of the chain and the boat lines. I love the contrast of the chain on the blue of the boat and the pop of the white numbers on the boat. I can see this framed in my house. That being said The only reason I did not choose this as the winner is that the overall coolness and composition of this piece is the focus for me. The rust itself was not. Thank you so much for letting my eyes see this piece.

Location
I took this photo in Barreiro, Portugal, near the river Tejo .Time
It was about noon on a beautiful hot summers day.Lighting
The sun was at her highest point in the sky, creating strong contrasts on the ships in the harbour.Equipment
I have a Lumix DMC-TZ60, all my photos are taken with this little miracle of a camera...The best thing about this camera is that it has a good Leica lens and it is very easy to carry with you because it practically fits in your back pocket.Inspiration
The sun was high and strong, creating nice contrasts between the beautiful colored copper plates and the rusted chain. My eye was drawn by the freshly painted numbers on the hull of the ship, crossing the line of the worn chain. This photo is all about contrast.Editing
This was a natural shot, no post-processing was done, I only cropped the photo. I allways shoot a wider shot, to have a wider range of sharpness. In my camera bag
I don't have any equipment in my bag (yet) I am a beginning photographer and I am learning to use a camera, to look for the good light, composition and point of view. One day when I know how to use and set the camera well enough, I will start to think about a bag filled with technical things instead of the need to understand how it works first...Feedback
When you want to take a photo with the sun high in the sky, you have to be careful not to get burned out light spots and black shadows. Try to find an angle where the sunlight is not reflected on the subject you want to photograph. When you look at a subject, you have to try to realise what you want to achieve, Try to find the good light, the right point of view and the best composition... In this case I made a composition, using triangular and crossing lines. Once you get home and open your laptop, the magic of today's world begins... I allways crop it later into the size and composition I like best. Crop the photo in different ways, so you can choose the best one the next day when you can have a fresh look at them!
