Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on the canal towpath in Wordsley, West Midlands, United Kingdom. The photo is the old Stewart Crystal Glass cone, which is now a museum and craft center

Time

The photo was taken at 20:45 during an evening walk in July

Lighting

The photo was deliberately taken at this time of day to take advantage of the natural lighting to catch the reflection of the glass cone in the canal

Equipment

The photo was captured using an i-phone 5 as I had taken a similar photo the day before and was happy with the results

Inspiration

The inspiration for this photo was a reflection on the past. As Wordsley is a part of the Black Country, United Kingdom, where the industrial revolution first took place.

Editing

I never do any post-processing, as I am a firm believer that a photograph captures a split second in time and any post-processing is just distorting that split second in time.I Also believe if you need to post-process photographs then you're not as good a photographer as you think you are

In my camera bag

I normally carry a Cannon EOS 600D, a Tamron SP17-50mm for live band shots and a sigma 70-300mm for landscape shots

Feedback

Take as many shots of the same scene as you can using different camera/lens settings, this way you have more chance of getting the actual shot you want
