Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Windansea Beach in La Jolla, CA.

Time

Mid Afternoon

Lighting

Natural lighting was used for this shot.

Equipment

For this shot, I used a canon T2i with a 18-55mm lens. No Tripod or flash. I now shoot with a Canon 5d Mark iii.

Inspiration

I love to capture in the moment shots. This just so happen to be one of those shots. I caught the little one kissing her momma's tummy and showing her baby sister some love.

Editing

This photo was turned from color to black and white leaving a splash of color from their outfits in the image.

In my camera bag

Back then I didn't carry much since I didn't have my own equipement. I was shooting with borrowed equipment. However, I now own a 5d Mark iii and Mark ii. My camera bag normally has the Mark iii in it along with extra batteries, SD and CF cards, a couple of chargers, a speed light, USB cord, HDMI Cord, USB drives, lens cleaner, and my camera manual just in case it is ever needed.

Feedback

Always be ready for that perfect shot. Keep your eyes on your clients at all times, they may surprise you sometimes and you don't want to miss that perfect shot. Keep plenty of battteries and memory cards with you. Take your time when editing. If your artist mode turns on, go with it. That is what I did here. I had no vision for this photo. It was captured in the moment and then when editing I let my artist in me take control. This is what I got out of it and it is now one of my favorite shots I have taken.
