Location
This photo was taken in Lower Antelope Canyon in Page Arizona. I was on vacation for a week visiting national parks in Arizona and Utah.Time
This photo was taken in the early afternoon, approximately 11:00 am, in the first week of December 2015.Lighting
The lighting at Antelope Canyon is ever changing. It was a partly cloudy day when I visited, but there was enough light in the canyon to take photos. It also helped that my camera excels in low light photography.Equipment
This shot was taken with a Nikon D7100 and Tokina 11-15 mm DX wide angle lens. No flash or tripod were used.Inspiration
I have been to Lower Antelope Canyon a couple of times. This is one of the most magical places in the world. One can spend the entire day taking photographs here. I had visited Arches National Park the day prior. When I came to this spot in the canyon, it reminded me of Arches. I knew I had to capture what I was seeing.Editing
I did minimal post processing in Lightroom for the shadows levels of the photo. I also increased the saturation a little bit.In my camera bag
My current photo gears includes: Nikon D7100, Nikkor 18-140 mm DX lens, Nikkor 55-300 mm DX lens, Tokina 11-16 DX lens, and a remote control for the shutter. I also use a tripod from Sunpak for night photography.Feedback
The key to capturing images in Lower Antelope Canyon are the gear, lighting, and patience. A DSLR that excels in low light scenarios is very important. A wide angle lens is another must when capturing images here. The lighting will have a major impact on how your pictures will come out here. Most folks visit the canyon during the summer months. It is pretty sunny during that time in Page. Finally, being patient will allow you to see the beauty of the canyon. If you rush through the canyon, you will miss out little details that make the canyon special.
