Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken outside of an abandoned tannery in an old neighborhood of Chania, Greece.

Time

It was a warm noon of February and it felt like summer.

Lighting

The sun rays had such a slope that were creating perfect shadows for the image.

Equipment

I used my Canon EOS 600D with my EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens and of course my imagination.

Inspiration

From technical view I observed a natural portrait, a perfect silhouette and great light angles. From a personal view, the kitten's mood was representing my own feelings and made me feel comfortable.

Editing

I adjusted the contrast of the image to emphasize specific details.

In my camera bag

Firstly I pack the basic equipment; Canon EOS 600D, Canon EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens and my beloved Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II. Also I have with me a duster cleaner, a timer remote control, a waterproof cover for the bag and a soft cloth. I forget to pack my SD cards almost every time.

Feedback

I am a self taught amateur photographer so I can't give professional advice. But for such photos, I think the photographer has to be calm so as not to terrify the animal, has to be patient and in any way creative. Generally get out of the house and start shooting!
