this is the most beautiful capture of waves hitting rocks. The contrast with the background breath-takingly displays the power of the sea. this is an absolute great capture.

I don't think that I have ever seen such an outstanding image of waves crashing over the shore such as this. It's a beautiful capture. Totally awesome!

Location
The photo was taken in one of my secret spots in Sydney. Well, the location is not secret but not many photographers realize it's potential, especially when the storm kicks in.Time
I took this shot after the sunrise. I clearly remember my wife being worried the day before about me going out. Such strong wind and huge waves! But we, photographers, are a bit crazy. So I went to the waviest place in the area in hope to photograph some raw power of the ocean.Lighting
The ocean reveals its true color in two scenarios: if you use polarizer or when the sky is dark. Such sky does not cause any reflections on the sea surface. Hence the colors!Equipment
Nikon D750, Tamron 15-30, tripod.Inspiration
There is something very special about the storms, there is a beauty in it and I always try to capture the might, the weather, something unique.Editing
This photo is actually a combination of two. One for the wave, the other one for the flowing streams. These two require different shutter speed and I had to do several shots. I wanted the water flows just because there would be too many dark rocks otherwise. Other than that, there is not much editing. The hardest part would be to edit the water properly and I've used my secret technique on that.In my camera bag
I always have my Nikon D750 with 3 lenses: Tamron 15-30, Nikon 50/1.8 and Nikon 70-300 VRII. Other than that, I have a headlamp, a tripod, a bunch of microfiber clothes and a spare battery.Feedback
Stay safe! That's the most important advice. Know your area, know how the waves behave and where they reach. Do not take risks. The storm could easily smash someone against the rocks or wash away. The ocean is no joke on a regular day and during the storm, it could be really dangerous. Apart from that, experiment with the shutter speed. As you see, I haven't tried to freeze the wave. Instead, I used a longer shutter speed of 0.5 seconds to add the right amount of blur keeping its shape yet not too busy.
