Location
One of my favourite cities that I visited last year was Lisbon. A fantastic city with so much to photograph. I enjoyed my time here, hopefully I’ll be returning this year sometime.Time
This was taken on my second visit to the area in a few days. The first visit was at sunrise, lovely and peaceful but the tide was out. The second visit was two days later late in the afternoon when the tide was fully in.Lighting
The amazing bright blue skies and warm autumn sun of Lisbon were out in the full on this day. The light was a little much but easy to control with it mostly behind my right shoulder.Equipment
A Nikon D810 and Nikon 18mm lens was used for this photo. Mounted on a Gitzo tripod with Formatt Hitech filters used to get the exposure down.Inspiration
I’ve seen many fantastic photos of this bridge. Wanting to get there for a few years to take my own photos. Happy with the results I got I also can’t wait to get back there so I can improve on this.Editing
Like all my architecture images I convert to mono and tweak the levels. I often add contrast to make the black and whites pop. Then some sharpening is added to the areas that need it.In my camera bag
I’ve always got a FX camera, a wide angle lens and a 35/50mm lens. Filters are a must for me as I do a lot of long exposures. A remote is a must for long exposures and something to cover the camera to stop light leaks. Spare batteries and SD cards are always to hand too.Feedback
Know your tideal times and sunset/rise times. These help so much when your looking to photograph something like this that’s dependant on it. Location homework is underrated but when traveling it’s very important.
