A Map to the Stars
I’ve waited years to visit this location and it fulfilled every notion of mystery and wonder I’ve ever had about it.
For those who don’t know of this place, these large rocks “sail” across the playa due to hurricane-force winds (which we definitely experienced here) and the occasional sheets of ice forming across the top layer, leaving a trail embedded in the ground. Some of these rocks have been GPS recorded to move over 700 feet. The mystery left scientists baffled for years up until 2014.
This was shot as the almost full moon set behind the Last Chance Mountains. A sight definitely worth braving the blistering cold for.
