Behind The Lens

Location

This fountain is near a hospital in Tienen. I think this is a wonderful initiative, because water and fountains are soothing for the patients who are staying there

Time

A day in the summer. I don't know which one anymore. I started taking photos on different days and times and from different angles and submitted the ones that I thought were the best

Lighting

The best exposure is the natural exposure. That is why I often return on the same subject (if possible) several times at different times and in different weather conditions. It is often the case that one subject comes into its own better with clouds and others with sunlight or half clouds. The position of the sun can also completely change the view

Equipment

You may not believe it but most of the photos I take with my i-Phone that I have more in my pocket to take photos than to send text messages. I do not like many nowadays that they only look at the screen of their i-Phone. I use my eyes and my other senses to observe all the beautiful things around me and my i-Phone to capture them on screen

Inspiration

I just let my senses work and I capture something that feels good on screen. This fountain gave me a warm and pleasant feeling and I captured that feeling on image

Editing

I have programs that I can use to edit photos, but then I do not reflect the feelings that I wanted to capture. The only edit I have done is to put a frame around it, for the rest I have not changed anything

In my camera bag

No more than an iPhone that I always have with me. I switch off the sound so that I can concentrate on everything around me But I have placed several apps on this that I can take photos with. For example for night photography, landscape photography and various others. The majority of my iPhone's memory is taken up by these apps

Feedback

Just like many housewives (and men) in a tiny kitchen with little modern material, they can often prepare better dishes than others in ultramodern kitchens because they do it with love, from the heart and with all their senses; that's the same with photography. One may possess hypermodern material if one fails to do it with feeling one makes worse pictures than those who do it with little material but with Love, Feeling and not to be forgotten, Patience. A Japanese saying: "one only masters a technique if one can put in one's own Soul"
