Location
The photo was taken in the swamps of harchies (Belgium). The collapse of the coal mines' corridors formed this landscape.Time
When I arrived in Harchies,.I bumped into a wall of fog. I hurried to my favorite shelter. The sun appeared on the horizon. A blue heron perched to gather his meal.Lighting
The sun pierced through the fog. The backlight combined with the fog made the landscape dramatic and provided the soft and calm background.Equipment
This photo is made with a Nikon D300 with a 500 mm Nikon Lens. on a tripod.Inspiration
I love this landscape. The branches and trees emerge from the water and create an exceptionally beautiful landscape. It was waiting for the ideal conditions. The fog and light completed the image.Editing
As post-processing, I slightly underexposed the photo. In my camera bag
I always use my tripod and my Nikon D300 or D700. Which lenses I take with me depends on the kind of pictures I want to take. I try to bring only the essentials. Otherwise the pack becomes too heavy. Sometimes you miss a good photo. You have to come to terms with that.Feedback
The place where you will be photographing should be explored in advance. Find where the sun rises and what there is to see. If you have found a good place, go there several times. Suddenly all the conditions are there to take the picture of a lifetime.
