Location
This was taken at a rest stop near Black River Falls, WI.Time
It was mid-afternoon.Lighting
I am not much of a flash user, so the lighting was all natural. A rainstorm had just come through, and there was a break in the clouds above that really helped to lift the shadows.Equipment
For this shot, I was using the Canon T7 and the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 ART lens. The tripod was a cheap Walmart brand. It was only about three months into my photography journey, so I was saving money where I could!Inspiration
I had visited the spot about a month earlier, and everything was still very green. I told myself that if I came back through during the Fall colors I had to stop and get this shot.Editing
At the time of this photo, I didn't have much editing experience, so the only adjustments I made were slight increases to vibrance and contrast. In my camera bag
In my bag I have both the Canon R7 and R8, RF 100mm f2.8 L Macro, RF 15-35mm f2.8 L, RF 24-70mm f2.8 L, RF 100-500mm L, and the Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 Sport.Feedback
Use a tripod and a slow shutter speed with an aperture around f9 to f11. If I were to take this shot today, I would probably do a focus stack to make sure I got everything sharp from front to back. Take your time, and take several shots using various settings to make sure you get the best shot you can. I think I took around 80 shots that day.
