Location
This shot was taken in a hurry because of the fast moving target. I was thankful it turned out so well. This was taken out my back door and is the Rainy River in Northern Minnesota near Baudette. It is north of the Laurentian Divide, the 48th parallel, and flows north into the majestic Lake of the Woods, part of the Hudson Bay watershed. The Rainy River serves as the US/Canadian Border and there is a new bridge between Baudette, Minnesota and Rainy River, Ontario.Time
This is looking west and in the summer the sun sets smack down the middle of the river.Lighting
There are many gorgeous sunsets to enjoy and this one was especially dramatic. The Rainy River has many moods - sometimes misty, foggy, or very bright in the winter.Equipment

It was a lucky shot. I just so happened to be at the right place at the right time. But fisherman do come in before dark and this neighbor hopefully had a good catch of walleye. These waters are known as the "Walleye Capital of the World".Editing
There was no need for any post processing. In my camera bag
My favorite equipment is Nikon. I got the best that I could afford and went with refurbished: A Nikon D3200 and D3300 with Nikkor 80-200 and 17-55, both 1:2.8. I am satisfied with them and know a beginner can start right up due to the Guide mode. I carry them both with me. It is always good to have a back up as well as plenty of extra chips and charged batteries. I plan to get to nearby water and woods this season. Who knows what can be waiting to have their picture taken? Best plan is to just get out there.Feedback
Always carry a camera with you. Even if it is just your cell phone - many are capable of a great capture.
