Location
It's a garden on the street where I live.Time
It was very close to magic hour. I guess the very beginning of it. It was very late in the afternoon, as I recall.Lighting
I saw that these bleeding hearts were backlit perfectly. I was walking by at just the right moment -- any earlier or any later and the shot would not have been there. So, I saw that the light was perfect and made the flowers glow.Equipment
I used a Panasonic Lumix g2 with a 45-150mm zoom lens. No tripod.Inspiration
The light was just so beautiful anyone one who was lucky enough to be there with a camera would have taken it. It was kind of perfect.Editing
No, I did not.In my camera bag
No much just two lenses, my 45-150mm zoom and a 14mm f/2.5. That's it.Feedback
There are just somethings that work more often then they don't and I don't feel a need to reinvent the wheel, so I am big on the rule of thirds. I was able to compose the vine/branch on the upper third. But I was also able to place the most heart-shaped flower on the left third. And I lucked out even more because in the background was a piece of whitish bamboo that I could position behind the hero flower on the third making it standout even more. And, of course, there was the time of day -- great light. I would say, that remembering the basic rules will help you get a good picture more often than it will hinder you.
