Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on the kitchen floor in my old house. At that time I did not have studio space so I improvised.

Time

My friend and I decided to do an impromptu photo shoot while the kids were in school. This was the only grown up time we had.

Lighting

During this time I was only using natural lighting. My kitchen was a soup kitchen style and had windows from end to end. It was perfect

Equipment

At the time that this photo was taken I was using my canon and honestly it was most likely in automatic mode. I had yet to learn to do it manually.

Inspiration

What inspired me to take this photo? Honestly, skittles. We saw a photo of the outfit and immediately thought “we can do a shoot in that outfit with skittles!”

Editing

All that I did for post processing was minor editing and filters. I am definitely not tech savvy.

In my camera bag

My camera bag is a diaper bag. No one wants to steal a diaper bag but many would steal a camera bag. Plus I can sit it on the ground and it is protected by the waterproof material. There are many pockets to store equipment. My Nikon, battery charger, water bottle, diaper changing pad (that is amazing to kneel in when the ground is wet), and camera cord is all I carry in it. I do not own different lenses.

Feedback

The only advice I could think of for others wanting to capture an image similar is to make sure your model is comfortable and relaxed. If the are not comfortable it will show in their face.
