PS: What camera and lens did you use? I have camera/lens envy! I am not a flower person but this is WOW!

Is this a giant sunflower for crops? We had them in our area last year and they were just amazing and full of bee's. Love this, such a happy photo.

Location
This photo was taken on the Harbor Boardwalk in Owen Sound, Ontario.Time
11:20amLighting
Natural sunlight. Taken at nearly high noon the sun was pretty much overhead.Equipment
I used a Nikon D90 with a 18-105mm lens. A tripod was also used.Inspiration
I'm not much of a flower photographer, but when I drove by this planter of sunflowers I was struck by this really tall sunflower which was so much taller than the few others in the planter. I have tried taking sunflowers in the field but I really liked the idea of isolating just one. So this situation gave me the opportunity to do just that. It was a very spur of the moment thing and I was lucky enough to have my camera and tripod with me even though I was just out in town picking up a few things.Editing
Well first off, it's a 3 shot HDR photo processed in Photmatix. I then brought it into Photoshop to touch up and remove any blemishes and finally run it through Color Efex Pro to add finishing touches. I try to process the photos that I like, so that they look bold and colorful and would look great on a 24" x 36" canvas. I want "wallhangers" :)In my camera bag
Not much. Nikon D90 which is dated but still works great. Nikkor 18-105mm lens, Nikkor 55-300mm lens, circular polarizer, tripod, memory cards, cleaning cloths, remote trigger. Lean and mean.Feedback
In this case (of the Sunflower) I would simply like to say that you need to be prepared when the moment strikes. Have your camera close at hand, even if you are just out and about in your town. Post processing skill and confidence will allow you to take chances and grow as a photographer.
