Nugget point is a spectacular place to visit, in some ways an easy place to shoot, but in others not so!
You dont get many chances to shoot such a location with great light and a long exposure like this!

Sunrise baby! A long wait for it too.Lighting
4th try for good light at this location that weekend, hours spent in driving wind and rain exposed on a cliff face with a huge drop. Worth it though. Wanted to combine a sunstar and ling exposure, and get a nice split tone across the image.Equipment
Sony A7r, metabones adaptor, canon 16-35L, Lee filters ( big stopper) , sirui tripod.Inspiration
I've always wanted to get a great shot of this location, its quite remote but still accessible, decided to spend an entire easter shooting in the area and ended up shooting this spot 4 times before getting a decent sunrise. The location is amazing the sense of scale is incredible, I love big dynamic lighting and this really needed some pop to make it rise aboveEditing
Yeah heaps.. more than my normal. Had to clone out another photographer further down the cliff and tidy up a lot of dust spots and flare, colour balance from the big stopper and some luminosity masking with some dodge and burning to bring out the detailIn my camera bag
I always travel with two bodies now, my a7r for landscapes and canon 6d for astro. Never without my 24mm tilt shift or 16-35L UWA. Add to that my Lee filters and a novoflex VR slim for panos and the sirui tripod and I'm all set.Feedback
Persistence and planning, get there early to get the spot and make sure you are at the right time of year
