Beautiful shot of this lonely tree Travis. I was there, it was cloudy and sprinkling at that time. I am unable to capture the still water like you did as it was quiet windy so the wave just keep moving. Did you any filter?

Gorgeous picture! Normally one tree doesn't work, but this time, a masterpiece!!

Great shot, but if idiots keep sitting and climbing all over it, it won't be beautiful for much longer...

"I'm.... drowning......" is what it says to me, of course in the voice of the wicked witch from The Wizard of Oz.

I recognize this New Zealand Tree. One of my absolute favorites! I've never actually seen it, but I've seen lots of photos of it. Yours is fabulous!!!

This is a remarkable shot, beautiful. I lived in NZ for a while and never went to the South Island unfortunately, but you are right, everytime you open your eyes, there's a magical vista just waiting to be photographed. I wasn't into photography then and that is my biggest regret. Well done sir, well done.

Congratulations on your Earth Day win! It’s a beautiful photograph! And fitting also because I heard that vandals destroyed that gorgeous tree..... I’ll never understand that...

I captured this on a week long trip in the South of New Zealand in late April. The Tree in Lake Wanaka, New Zealand needs no introduction. Although there are so many photos here I still had to put my own spin on it.Time
My favourite Time of Day, first thing in the Morning. The light is better, less people to contend with and it is usually less windy. We arrived around 4am, got a good spot then just waited for the lightLighting
I love the morning glow from the leaves on the Tree from the first rays and the Mountains being only partially lit with the shadows from the clouds.Equipment
My trusty Canon 6D on a Manfrotto Tripod with the Canon 24-105mm f/4, which I believe to be a highly under-rated Lens. I also had the Hoya ND400 filter to slow down that shutterInspiration
If you ever travel to NZ you know you can't help but be inspired. I mean i have seen many beautiful photos of New Zealand but there is nothing like being there. It is hard to open your eyes without taking in a magnificent vista.Editing
Of course. Just Lightroom which I use for around 95% of my work. Toned down the highlights, pulled out the shadows. that sort of thing. I also went back and re-edited this image again when the Dehaze feature was added to Lightroom which really made this picture pop.In my camera bag
My Canon 6D. I also have a Canon 1V if I want to use film which I rarely use, I should probably use it more. I have 4 lens, the 24-105mm f4, the 70-200mm f2.8 IS II, the 50mm f1.8 and I recently added the 16-35mm f2.8II. Manfrotto Tripod, a Canon 430ex II speedlite & a Yongnuo 560-III Speedlite. I think thats it, well the big stuff anywayFeedback
Get up early and do your research. Plan well and most of the work is done when it comes to landscape photos. Preparation also gives you more confidence get get the shots you are chasing and there are a lot of resources out there to help photographers. Also get a ND filter and learn how to use it, with a Tripod of course. :)
