Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the Manassas Battlefield in Virginia.

Time

This photo was taken in late afternoon in the fall of 2001.

Lighting

Nice afternoon, close to the Golden hour with long oblique shadows of fall.

Equipment

This was back in my film days with my Nikon. Since it was 19 years ago, I am not certain of the model. No tripod, just natural ambient light.

Inspiration

I had recently moved from Canada to the United States for work. Being close to all the history on the East Coast and the nation's Capitol, I was out exploring with my camera every weekend.

Editing

I am still pretty much an amateur and have not learned a lot of post processing techniques.

In my camera bag

Nowadays I carry my Nikon D3200 with a number of lenses and filters. My AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm, Nikkor AF-S 55-300, Nikkor AF-S 200-500mm,Nikkor AF-S 10-24mm, Nikkor AF-s 50mm and Nikkor AF-S 55-200mm. Since I do most of my photography of Wildlife and Landscape, bring my Circular Polarizer filfters everywhere I go.

Feedback

As an amateur, I am still learning and observing other's work. The Blue Hour and Golden Hour, in particular in the fall provides great oblique light and long shadows.
