Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken in a dog park in albemarle County, Virginia. I always try to capture the various personalities I meet doing everyday activities.Time
This was shot in the mid morning, around 11am.Lighting
The light was muted as it was a wintery overcast day.Equipment
Nikon D7100. Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 lens. Handheld, no flash (dogs don’t like them)Inspiration
Look at those eyes...she begs to be photographed.Editing
I took the image to black and white, and then reintroduced a red saturation to the image to return the essence of her chocolate coat.In my camera bag
I now carry a D810 and D710. Primarily use prime lenses, 28mm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.8, and 85mm f/1.8Feedback
Get a sense of the geometry of your lens in relation to the target, so you can frame the shot without hiding behind the camera. You’ll get the best results when you engage the animal so they make eye contact...then keep shooting.
