Location
I made this photo during a demonstration of artists in favor of democracy in Brazil. Rio de Janeiro - RJ - Brazil.Time
The demonstrations began around 5:00 p.m., so this picture was taken around 8:00 p.m., when the big performances started on the main stage.Lighting
Even if it was a stage, the lights were very precarious. As the front of the stage was full of demonstrators, I realized that it would be impossible to get a good frontal angle, so I went the other way. I positioned myself on the back of the stage, waiting for the moment when the artist turned her back to the audience, and with that some light illuminated her face.Equipment
This photo was made with a Canon 5D MK III + Canon 70-200mm f / 2.8 USMII Lens.Inspiration
My great intention with this photograph was to bring the feeling of "lack", of something incomplete, empty and dramatic. These were the great feelings that moved the demonstration of artists in favor of democracy in Brazil, because one of the measures adopted by the government that had just assumed power through a coup was the closure of the Ministry of Culture.Editing
The only change in the photo was the conversion to black and white. In my camera bag
I already had and tested several different devices from different brands . Today , I carry with me in my backpack , a Canon 5D MK III with Canon lenses , 8-15mm f4 , f2.8 16-35mm , 24-70mm USM II 2.8 and a 70-200mm USM II 2.8. Depending on the place , ND filters , tripod and whatever it takes to placeFeedback
In "street" situations, popular demonstrations, one of the great "secrets" is to be aware of everything. Predicting some situations, understanding how light behaves in the place is fundamental, because most of the time we do not have a second chance to do the photography.
