Location
This picture was taken during a MarcAdamus Photo Tours in California, this specific place in the salt lakes of Death Valley National Park by the sand tufas. It is a well known place by landscape photographersTime
It was late in the afternoon about 6pm as we had gone to that spot for a sunset shoot.Lighting
It was an interesting afternoon as the light was changing very rapidly so was the weather, we got sun, rain, thunderstorm clouds and a beautiful sunset glow in the clouds making the scene very dramatic.Equipment
I used my Nikon D810 at that time paired with my 14-24mm, and I also used a 4 stop ND filter to blur the water and the foam created by the salt water. No artificial light was used in this shot.Inspiration
I was inspired by Marc Adamus himself who was attempting a similar shot at the time getting very close to the water, no tripod was used for these shots as I hold the camera agains a rock on the ground to achieve this angle, very challenging photo.Editing
Quite a bit of post processing went on as I had to focus stack and also stack different pictures for the water movement and also for the correct exposure for the sky.In my camera bag
Nowadays I still use a DSLR I have my Nikon D850 my 14-24 f2.8, 24-70mmf2.8 and the 70-200mm f2.8 I also carry ND and polarizing filters as well as tripod and remote shutter release.Feedback
