It is such a wonderful place: Zauberwald in Berchtesgaden, Bavaria Germany. Translated this place is called enchanted forest. And fairy tale like is this wonderful landscape indeed.
The water in the stream is so crystal clear that you can drink out of it.
I spent several hours inside this forest jumping in and out of the water and from stone to stone to capture all different sorts of angles and different lengths of exposure.

Was this mid-day with added in sun? It looks wonderful, its just.. it seems to have lost some details in the sun where it wouldn't, and the light seems to be missing the golden hue it would have.
Love this shot though, great work!

This photo was taken at Zauberwald, Germany. A fitting name as its translation means enchanted forest. And a truly enchanting day it was when I walked along the streaming water. At first I had planned on just taking a walk through this forest to get from beautiful Hintersee to the famous church Ramsau. But then I literally stopped at every other corner to take pictures. This place in special just screamed at me "shoot me". So I did.Time
This shot was taken in the later afternoon. The night before I got up at 3 a.m. to shoot the milky way over Hintersee. Out in the dark I met another photographer and we decided to keep taking pictures till morning. After the sun had risen above the mountains I went back to the nearby hotel, had a shower and breakfast and went to bed. ...the usual disruptive course of the day for a landscape photographer. In the afternoon I headed back out to get to Zauberwald then.Lighting
The light was beautiful as it threw spotlights on different areas inside the forest. But it needed some enhancement and here color dodging in special to get the light in the image as I experienced and felt it while being there.Equipment
I shot the image with my Sony a6000 with a 12mm Samyang. I set my Rollei tripod up in the water to get a good low angle. A ND filter helped on raising the shutter speed to create this smooth effect on the water.Inspiration
Seeing images of lake Hinter (Hintersee) inspired me to go there and shoot. I heard that Zauberwald right behind the lake was supposed to be beautiful. But I hadn't seen any images. So the place itself made me shoot it in the end.Editing
Yes, of course. I always pre-edit with Lightroom and fine tune and take artistic choices inside Photoshop. This image contains 3 different exposures. To capture the high dynamics but also to get the smooth water I wanted to have in the shot. Usually I like blending longer exposures and shorter one together to smooth out flowing water to create mood and on other spots blend in shorter exposures to display crisper details. Color dodging to enhance the light and create mood has been used as well. And I always like to lift the blacks to get some sort of details in the darks but also create some sort of haziness. This suits the scene well in my opinion. In my camera bag
I like to take most of my gear with me. This means heavier load to carry but also more choices on which lens to take.Feedback
I believe it is necessary to get multiple exposures to capture high dynamics. I also like playing with different shutter speeds on flowing water. 4 seconds up to 9 seconds are usually good. Using filters are a given. But mostly, try to get a good composition. A lot can be fixed in post-production but composition is always key and cannot or just in a very small way be corrected in post. But most of all: enjoy the pure bliss of being outside in wonderful landscapes. I believe the more I feel and enjoy the scene the better the images are.
