Congrats on winning my Italian Dolomites photo challenge! I love the tonal range you were able to achieve in this composite. Looks like Seneca?

I took this photo during one of my adventure in Dolomites. It was the first time in "Seceda" mountain, it was so cold and my hand (despite gloves) was litterally freezing as my face. I remember the sound of wind passing by the grass making a wonderful melody; in this cold and freezy night I could see the beauty of the earth and the opportunity to transmit this wonderfulnessTime
I waited for the night, I took the milky way shot at 12pm and the ground shot was taken during the blue hourLighting
I wanted this image to look dreamy and to draw the viewer into a dream. I personally use to think, how world is amazing and how I can communicate this amazeness to all people in the world, expecially for the people who can't see this beauty by person. By the way, for the ground, I decided to shoot during the blue hour beacause everything have more details (deatails that would be lost during dark night), while for the sky I had to wait for the arrival of the pure darkness to see milky way like thisEquipment
I shoot with a Canon 6D and Tokina 16-28mm f2.8 lensInspiration
I was looking for a new mountain to shoot milky way. I alredy know that Dolomites are gorgeous for the nightscapes beacause of minimal light pollution, so I took my car, and from the center of Italy in less than 5 hours I was on the starting point. I took the cableway to reach the top (I had a lot of weight in my bagpack), and I arrived on the top at 4 o clock so I put my bagpack on the shelter below (30min of walking from the top) and I went back to the top.Editing
Landscapes take a lot of post processing; with this image, I took 2 shot for the ground to have more perspective and I merged them in photoshop. I took one shot for the milky way (15 sec f2.8 iso 6400) and after I edited and merged with the ground. [disclaimer: milky way is not in this position, I shifted it to make more awesome this image]In my camera bag
I'm not a fan to talk about equipment because I think that you make the image, not the equipment... however, I want to share with you mine (of course why not?). I use to have my Canon 6D and a Tokina 16-28mm f2.8 and a Sigma 35mm f1.4, I also have a Canon 75-300 f4.5/5.6 and I use it for my distant close up shoot. I also have a Benro tripod, that I don't like so much because is a little bit heavy despite is alluminium, I want a carbon fiber tripod for the future (If some one is interested to make me a gift I will accept :D )Feedback
Dolomites are amazing, If want to went in Italy to shoot this kind of photo I recommend you to have a great equipment against cold and wind, beacause at thes altidudes during the night, temperature are very low
