Location
This was taken at a small baseball field in the middle of a small town with nature and other baseball fields scattered around the walking paths. Walkers would stop and enjoy the game until their children or dogs would pull them away, action on and off the field.Time
It was a early evening game, people were still arriving and I kept busy moving around the field taking pre game photos of the team while the sun is slowly setting.Lighting
Pre game photos help to show me where the best positions for shooting are and also lets me get a view of backgrounds of possible shots. As the light fades, I change the camera settings. I never, ever use any form of flash at any sport games, either indoor or outdoor. Flash is distracting to the players and possibly be asked by the empire ,etc.. to leave the game.Equipment
I used the the Nikon750, with the Nikkor 80-200 , which is a great lens in low light and a fast memory card, nothing else.Inspiration
I like to take shots of the team after the game, their expressions are pure moments. This girl knew that I would have my lens on her and we have a routine of her walking into the lens after every game and I get the best shots and pure moments!Editing
I used Lightroom and did basic editing of lighting, and contrast. In my camera bag
My basic lens' is the Nikkor 70- 300 & hood (perfect in low light ) the Nikon 750 camera and filters. I like to travel light. What lens too use depend on what I am photographing.Feedback
Some of the best captures are ones off the field, just keep looking for that unexpected moment. Expand your ideas of where the perfect portrait photo should be Be creative!
