Location
This photo was taken in the rural community where I live in the Arkansas Ozarks.Time
I took this photo just after 7:00 am in late May. On the way home from an early morning drive, I caught a glimpse of sunlight through the trees. I put my truck in park, and jumped out to take the quick shot before I lost the position of the sun. There was really no time to set up tripod, and actually no good place because I was in the middle of the road. This accidental opportunity turned out to be the best image I captured on this particular morning.Lighting
The early morning light cast a lovely golden glow on the surrounding green leaves and sort of took my breath away. The warmth of the light through the trees really drew me into the composition.Equipment
Nikon 7100D with 70-300mm nikkor lens --- this photo was taken at 70mmInspiration
The position of the sun peeking through the large tree in the foreground coupled with the warm golden morning light made this scene too perfect to pass up.Editing
I did very little post-processing here. I increased saturation slightly and added a touch of warmth to help create the golden tone that I wanted. In my camera bag
I keep two cameras and multiple lenses with me. Nikon 7000D and Nikon 7100D - This particular morning I had a wide angle lens on the Nikon 7000D and a nikkor 70-300mm on the Nikon 7100D, which is what I used on this particular shot. My camera bag is loaded with various other lenses...micro lens up to my 300-500mm lens. My tripod is always in my truck, also. Most of my photos are taken on the fly. Sometimes I am in a location that allows to me to set up equipment and take my time, and other times I get extremely lucky with an opportunity and have to take a quick shot.Feedback
Keep your eyes open! You never know when an opportunity will arise and take you by surprise. Shoot from as many different angles as possible. The position of the sun in this photo was key to the whole mood of the image. I like to take early morning drives in areas with very little traffic. Back roads are my favorite places. Visit the same place at different times of the day, and during season changes. Pay attention to your surroundings and the feelings that you experience at the time. This is always helpful to me when trying to get the post-processing results that I want.
