Location
This photo is shot in Iceland at Kirkjufellsfoss with the mountain Kirkjufell in the backround.Time
This is late in the evening when the sun was going down, between 20:00 - 21:00 but in Iceland the time of sunset is constantly changing due to to location of Iceland close to the Arctic circle. And as soon as the sun goes it gets dark.Lighting
I arrived early to find my self a good composition and to be ready but there where clouds at the horizon, blocking the most of the light. Anyway I kept waiting for some miracle and stayed until the sun was sinking behind the clouds and then suddenly just for few minutes the light came. Good enough to make the shot. The problem is to not wait to long because it gets dark as soon as the sun goes down, so you need to find the sweet spot between light and dark.Equipment
I had my new Canon R6 camera which had hardly been used, so this was a little bit of a learning process this evening. I use Manfrotto meta tripod, which is have and sturdy for Icelandic wind. I didn´t use any filters.Inspiration
The sunsets at this place can be so beautiful and the waterfall as a foreground and and the mountain Kirkjufell seamed to be the perfect scene for a good composition. I have been there many times to get my shot and I will for sure keep on coming there.Editing
This picture is a combination of two exposures, one for the sky and one for the foreground. My other post processing is mostly dots and burning, and cleaning up some objects that don´t need to be there. I am actually very poor guy when come to post-processing.In my camera bag
I have a big bag and lot of things are in my bag. In addition to my camera, I have 16-35mm lend, 70-200 lens, Lee ND filters and one graduated filter, Drone (Mavic Pro II), tripod, tools for repairing, lens cloths, head light, warm clothes and food for the day. My bag is Shimoda 60L and I love it.Feedback
Actually this place can be interesting in all kind of weathers and all seasons. In the summertime the sunset is the most popular hour of shooting and I suggest people come there early because this place can be crowded. It can also be nice in a moody weather if you prefer some dramatic scene. In the middle of the winter the northern light are spectacular there, so any time of the year has some epic opportunity.
