Location
This Photo was taken in the Bahama's on the island of Blue Lagoon.Time
We had taken an excursion to the Blue Lagoon from an NCL Cruise we were on, we wandered around and a little after lunch I stumbled on this area full of empty hammocks. I rushed to get camera out before anyone spoiled the scene, it was so tranquil and I was lucky enough to get a few shots before the hammocks started to fill up.Lighting
The lighting couldn't have been anything more than perfect, the sun was at my back and filtering through palm trees, made everything look so serene and inviting. As the hammocks were filling up, me and my wife grabbed a couple of Margarita's and laid in that hammock for the next hour, what a way to spend the afternoon!!Equipment
The camera was a Canon T1i, my first DSLR, I had just taken up photography as a hobby so I rented a Sigma wide angle, 8 - 16 mm I believe, that was a fun lens to use and so glad I rented it.Inspiration
After lunch I was walking around the island looking for a good area to use my wide angle and stumbled on this gorgeous scene with no humans, sorry, I like landscape scenes with no people in them. Anyhow, I see this uninhabited gorgeous area and ran over quickly, Cruise people can fill an island up in no time. I was lucky to have a few minutes alone in that area and what a beautiful scene, I had it all to myself. I was really looking to take shots of Palm trees but the empty hammocks were so inviting, I stopped in my tracks and started snapping.Editing
I must admit, I'm not proficient in post processing, I'm still learning about the front end. But I did add a little color boost and a touch of warmth, that was it.In my camera bag
The first I pack is a Tamron 18 - 300 mm lens, then my Canon 10 - 21 mm, both lenses are fun to use. I also pack a Canon 50mm prime 1:1.4 which I end up not using much, the Tamron has so much versatility I rarely put ti down. Camera wise I have a Canon T1i and a Canon 70D, the 70D has so many features I am still learning about and takes beautiful pictures.Feedback
The Caribbean and the Bahama's have such beautiful landscapes, you never know what you might see. We love Cruising, great way to see a bunch of islands in one trip. I have to admit I went back to the Blue Lagoon several years later but could not recreate the shot, that taught me, enjoy the spot you have, spend as much time as you can because you may never get the same Light or the same cloud or the same hammock in the scene as it was before!
