Location
This shot was taken in Zilker Park, Austin, Texas. The shot is a grab of city skyline and the fields of the park.Time
This was taken in the late afternoon, early evening before sunset. With the sun behind me, it provided some great light for the buildings in the distance.Lighting
Nope... typical Texas day really. I went out to the park because the clouds were out and added some much-needed detail to the sky.Equipment
Nikon D300, Nikkor 24-70mm f2.8 lens. RRS Tripod and ballhead + cable releaseInspiration
Austin is a small big city. It has a really nice sky-line and Zilker is one of the best places to take it all in. Being that I used to be an architect, I am drawn to architectural shots and enjoy the contrast the buildings make against the trees and the park.Editing
Converted to B&W in Photoshop + sharpening. Its a pretty straight forward shot, so not much was neededIn my camera bag
Im a 100% Nikon shooter, bodies and Nikkor lenses. I have a D200, 300, 700, 750, 810 and Z9 is on the way! I have glass ranging from 14-28 up to 400mm f4 (sports lens). RRS tripod and ball head. Aline Bees (for when I do studio work, which is hardly never these days but I have em).Feedback
Get out and push the button. Digital photography is FREE !!! (well once you pay for the camera anyway). Unlike the days of film where you had to buy the film, shoot, pay for development and prints (or better pay for the chemicals and do it yourself). Now the cost is basically zero. Take as many shots as you can and experiment. Try different angles, perspectives, settings, and DOF. Experiment!!! It is usually during this experimenting that you have the most fun. For me photography is about getting out and "seeing" what others don't and trying to capture it.
