Location
I was in Boston for a business trip and I had one evening and only a hour and a half to spend in the downtown area. We ate dinner at the Union Oyster House and then I began my walk; this photo was one of my very first shots I captured that evening.Time
It was full dark when I began my downtown adventure, about 8pm, and this shot was captured soon after leaving the Union Oyster House.Lighting
Although it was very dark, the street lights, passing cars, and building lights gave everything a slight glow that gave the century old buildings a nostalgic feel.Equipment
All I had was my Sony A77 with 18-55mm kit lens. No tripod, I had to use an electrical box along the street for my slow shutter shots. (that slow shutter shot can be seen in our gallery)Inspiration
I have never been to Boston and I knew I only had a short time to spend in the downtown area. My goal was to take as many photos as possible and hope for a handful that I could cherish in case I never have a chance to come back.Editing
I did some basic editing; sharpened, enhanced and black & white conversion. This photo is a perfect example of why some photos can only be presented in Black & White. In my camera bag
Normally we have a Sony A580 & Sony A77; Sony kit lens 18-55mm, Sigma 18-250mm, Sigma 150-500mm, assorted filters & tripodFeedback
If you will be experiencing something or someplace new, make sure you have your camera, take lots of photos of all types & settings. Because you may never have that same experience again for the rest of your life.
