Great creativity and nice shot! The only issue I have with this image, in this contest, is that it's not a reflection. It's a cropped image made to resemble a reflection then mirrored. Without reading the details about the image, being a fake reflection, is parts of the image would never reflect if water was present. The undersides of the elks, necks, their hind areas, etc. Reflections are never perfect reflections because the objects being reflected, reflect at a slightly different angle. The angle of incidence is never the same as the reflection. Great work nonetheless! Cheers

Great photo but it's difficult to discuss because you see not a lot of the back and foreground

Location
The original photo was taken at the summit of Trail Ridge Road inside Rocky Mountain National Park. One great thing about this drive of going up and over Trail Ridge Road is you have a 90% chance of viewing Elk.Time
This was later in the day, probably around 5pm. Sun was coming in a deep angle and fog had settled in the valley.Lighting
Normally this time of day at this altitude it will be rainy. This day was different, sun was still out and bright. Although, there was heavy fog in the valley.Equipment
Sony A580, Sony kit 75 -300mm Natural light, without a tripod (This series of photos were taken hand held within a moving vehicle)Inspiration
We are both born and raised in Colorado, so Elk do not usually catch our eye. Although, this time was different the younger bull was doing something neither of us have ever seen before. He was resting, but he was laying down like a dog would. As you can see he had his chin on the ground, almost as if he was tired of holding up his antlers. (even though his are half the size of the older bull). We knew we had to get this captured, because we may never see it again. Also, we had no choice but to take these photos from our moving vehicle. The park was just to busy and the Rangers would not allow anybody to pull over.Editing
To the original photo, we did basic color enhancement, brought out the detail a little and smoothed out the background. The created image that you see here, was made by trial & error. We wanted to give the image a 3D or floating like effect and once we doubled the image and gave it this false reflection it really did look like it was floating. We have created our own series of false reflection images, they can all be viewed in our gallery. In my camera bag

If something catches your eye, where maybe it normally would not, then you need to be shooting like crazy. Try something new with your editing software that maybe no one else has ever tried or thought of. Be creative in your own way. Most of that will be trial and error; and then maybe success!
